Two inseparable cousins around 12 years of age, Ceporro and Chino, live in the large flat that belongs to their grandmother after the Civil War. Don Rodolfo, who used to go sparring with Uzkudun, gives them boxing classes. Echoes of the Second World War, Field Marshal Rommel and the Nippon Empire provide the backdrop to the story, and then a young German girl, an orphan and a refugee, appears out of nowhere.
