Puesto que Dios concedió la razón al hombre, debía parecerle bien que se instruyese, ¿o acaso prefería que su servidor fuese un ignorante? Desearía también hablar con la serpiente, tan ingeniosa ella. Anunciar únicamente la moral, ¿no sería prestar un servicio a los hombres? Esa moral es tan pura, tan santa, tan universal, tan clara y tan antigua, que bien debe provenir del mismo Dios, como la luz que entre nosotros se tiene por su primera creación....
