The Tesoros (Treasures) program is an exciting and innovative first year media-based Spanish program that addresses the increased faculty interest in and need for media-based products in beginning Spanish programs. The Tesoros product is one in which the entire course content is delivered completely on CD-ROM through an engaging, mystery-based story that motivates students to learn the language in a medium that is captivating, pedagogically sound, and fun. A full range of print materials (including a textbook and workbook/lab manual) is available to accompany the CD-ROM.

Julio Baena offers a new analysis of Cervantes's last and most controversial novel, Los trabajos de Persiles y Segismunda. Baena's particular focus on the first chapter of this allegorical text, which he sees as a microcosm of the entire novel, allows him to explore the correspondence between microcosm and macrocosm in Cervantes's allegorical text. Placing this work within the intellectual context of its era, Baena uses poststructuralist methodologies to develop the existential implications of Persiles's central cosmological metaphor.
