Scientists and community workers collect data to help us understand the world around us. Data can be put in graphs and tables to make it easy to see and understand. Some people who collect data are meteorologists, storm chasers, and governments. The U.S. government collects data that tells us about the population. This data is called the census, and it helps us plan for our communities and schools, and for emergencies.
