El objeto de este trabajo es contribuir a una teoría del proyecto arquitectónico en la que la idea de tipo no se conciba como un mecanismo reproductor sino como una estructura de la forma capaz de múltiples desarrollos.

A detailed architectural study of the monumental and historic Mercado Hidalgo, the central marketplace in Guanajuato, Mexico. The market has over 260 stores and was inaugurated in 1910 using the previous marketplace front that was constructed in 1861. In addition to the architectural study and analysis the book has many historic photographs and information.

The shopping mall is one of the typologies most succesfully developed in the twentieth century. The work of the Mexican architural firm Grupo Arquitech has ventured into this fertile territory. Directed by Juan José Sánchez since 1987. In the space of a few years, Arquitech has designed the main malls in Mexico, perfecting a model that accurately define the limit. This is the first major documentation of their work.
