Antonino Liberal (s.II-III d.C.) recopiló 41 historias de variado contenido pertenecientes al corpus de la Mitología griega. En cada una de ellas se cuenta, al menos, una metamorfosis. La mayoría de estas leyendas están encabezadas por unas anotaciones que remiten a otros nombres, principalmente Beo (s. III a.C.) y Nicandro de Colofón (s. II a.C.), autores que trataron también el tema de las Metamorfosis en sendas obras perdidas.
