Una de las escritoras laicas del siglo de Oro que siempre recibio favorable critica y ademas fue sumamente admirada en su tiempo, fue dona Ana Caro. Sin embargo, aunque los criticos e historiadores afirmaron que Ana Caro fue una prolifica escritora, solo se conservan dos obras dramaticas: "Valor, agravio y mujer" y "El conde Partinuples." Este estudio esboza la vida de Ana Caro, examina y discute extensamente ambas comedias y analiza la versificacion y la estructura interna de su obra."
