El objetivo de este folleto es ayudar a que los fieles aprendan a participar en la Liturgia de las Horas y poco a poco vayan disfrutando de la riqueza del don de Dios y desarrollando la vocación sacerdotal, recibida de Cristo en el Bautismo. Importa, sobre todo, que la celebración no resulte rígida ni complicada, ni preocupada tan sólo de cumplir con las normas meramente formales. Hay que esforzarse en primer lugar porque los espíritus estén motivados por el deseo de la genuina oración de la Iglesia y resulte agradale celebrar las alabanzas divinas. La salmodia, aunque exijala reverencia debida a las majestad divina, debe realizarse con alegría de espíritu y dulzura de corazón. Above all, it is important that the celebration not be rigid, complicated or concerned solely with observing rules that are merely formal. Efforts must be made, in the first place, that spirits be motivated by a desire for the genuine prayer of the Church and that it may be pleasing to celebrate the divine praises. The psalmody, though it calls for the reverence due to the divine majesty, must be carried out with joy of spirit and sweetness of heart.
